Oral health is highly associated with cardiovascular health.It has been found that poor oral health is a risk for diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemias and low HDL levels.Patients with inflammatory gums have high levels of CRP and IL-6 that disrupts endothelial functional and increases the risk of hypertension and atherosclerosis. Moreover, Porphyronomas gingivalis speeds up the atherosclerosis plaques.Oral health needs to be emphasized especially in low socioeconomic states to decrease the global burden of CVDS.
